I’ve tried to make my posts undiscoverable, given the way I write, the themes I work with, and my fearful nature. But I think it’s more effective at depriving me of the chance to engage in thoughtful conversations. I also wonder if I might benefit from being less self-absorbed now and then.
So, I’d like to resume normal posting. If you are disturbed by my perverse subject matter, or dismissive of AI-assisted writing, I plead with you to hide my blog now. Anyone else is welcome to write to me at lonelygirlphenomenology@protonmail.com. As long as the exchange is respectful, I’ll try my best to reply, although I cannot promise that, since I read and write excruciatingly slowly, even with AI. I am just a slow person in general.
Apart from my temperament and upbringing, one reason I’m drawn towards the dark and heavy is that I’m deeply influenced by Maggie Nelson’s The Art of Cruelty and Angela Carter’s The Sadeian Woman. I believe they were in conversation with Simone de Beauvoir’s Must We Burn Sade?, or at least had it in mind. If I have the stamina, I might write a piece specifically on their philosophy and mine, because it seems paradoxical that for various different reasons, they, as feminist icons, take a far more sympathetic view of Sade, a misogynist icon, than most. This is not to say that they are not critical of him.
